The MT Propeller Hub

The beautiful design from MT does not end with the Propeller

This is the MT 3-blade hub that has been cut away to expose the inner workings. The hub is machined from a solid block of special aluminum, then shot peened and anodized. Next the blade bearing races (replaceable stainless steel) are pressed into place.

The blade retention system uses stainless steel roller ball bearings with Teflon spacers to provide a tight and secure fit. The blade angle is changed with a Teflon block that operates against a dowel integrated into the hub of each blade. This block is moved fore and aft by direct pressure from the piston against a double coil return spring.

Even this piston and bore is designed to be able to be re-sleeved, giving the hub it’s unlimited life. Note the straight forward design and extraordinary craftsmanship. This is a machine you will be proud to have on your airplane!
